History
STEELTEC CZ, s. r. o. is new business name of company GARDENA Třinec, s. r. o., established in 1991 as a joint venture
of Třinecké železárny, a. s. and the Germany-based GARDENA AG.
Gradually selling the stock of the parent company in Ulm, the company has become a major worldwide supplier of metallic gardening tools.
Beside the gardening tools, presently, the company also produces other engineering metallic products for the consumer market. This was possible thanks to using metal products from
Třinecké železárny and applying machine-working processes to them. A major milestone in the company history came in 2003, when, as a part of a new marketing and sales strategy,
the company changed its name to the current one, STEELTEC CZ and in the year 2007, when it went to merger of our mother company GARDENA with HUSQVARNA concern.
In 1997-2003, considerable funds were invested in the construction of new manufacturing shops, attached to the original plant hired from Třinecké železárny. Thus, the production process of
metal processing was complemented. At present, the company operates a metal pressing technology, using eccentric and hydraulic presses up to 315 tonnes, a technology for metal sizing and machining,
which involves turning, welding with automatic welding lines working in the CO-Ar protection atmosphere, and grinding. The metal pressing operations are supported by own tool
shop, offering sufficient means to maintain the existing tools and to manufacture new ones using the 3D design and technology development system.
The extensive investment also included an acquisition of a high-capacity powder coating system. As a service, we offer all sorts of surface galvanizing, including zinc-plating,
copper-plating and chromium-plating.
To solve the stock space shortage for both semi-finished and finished products, a new set of shelves with a capacity of 2 700 EP was installed, combined with a shipping unit with
levelling bridges to load on lorries.
The company has 350 employees; the production site is made up of four adjacent shops with an approximate total area of 8000 m2. As a part of partnership with the Silesian
Diaconia, 50 partially disabled persons are employed in Ergon, a protected workshop, performing simple assembly operations.
STEELTEC CZ is a new, dynamic company, which is also proved through the improving productivity, growing investments into technology, and rising profit margins.
